Week 10 Homeschool 2020

MONDAY Oct 12

Volcano day! We got to create our own volcanoes today. Each kid browsed one of my volcano books and found facts they didn't know yet and shared with the rest of us. We made salt dough and formed them into volcanoes and then erupted our own. The kids were so cute about it. We tied in how though the earth is always changing God is the same yesterday today and forever.

Instead of copying vocab words they learned them verbally and then had a quiz where they all had to squat down and I would say a word and they would "erupt" and jump up and whoever was first got to say the definition. It was fun.

We had a special treat- the Romney family in our ward moved here from Australia so back when we were doing Australia we asked them to come share about their country. It's been a while but we were finally able to get together. Their oldest son River created a powerpoint and told us all about places and lingo and food and fun they had here. He was darling. Dad and mom sang the anthem for us and then Dave the dad played the dijeridoo for us. Christi made Anzac biscuits for us which were delicious oatmeal cookies. Then the family helped us load up a trailer full of wood to share with people in need at church. It was fun to make friends will real live Aussies. I neglected to get good pics but here are two bad ones.

TUESDAY Oct 13

Peru! And L is for llama
We watched vids of the amazingness of Peru and then did a llama craft with Benson.

Sam learned her 6 times tables and it was fun to have each older sibling challenge her to see who could say each fact first. She beat all of them on some- even Phil took a turn as challenger and she even beat him to a few answers. :)

For writing everyone practices writing rhbak you letters and cards. One for romney fam, sister rosado and Ally's yw leader and bens primary teacher who have been sending them letters all quarantine. So nice!

We let the kids run about and roll about on the church grass while we dropped off wood at church shed. Fun to get out their wiggles.
