Homeschool 2021, March 1-5

I'm recording this a week later and now I forgot everything we did that isn't in a picture... typical.

We were having so much fun with Russia and Eastern Europe we continued. For our Friday art project we learned about the artist Peter Faberge who was the jeweler of the Tsar and created intricate masterpieces. We created Faberge eggs out of plastic easter eggs. The kids were so creative. We watched the movie Anastasia after learning about the life of animator Don Bluth. We had fun comparing the real story of Anastasia Romanov from the Angel on the Square book with the animated movie.

We watched a Geography Now about Poland. We read the below books about Eastern Europe immigrants and Jewish culture. (I guess Poland is technically Central Europe.) We learned about Klezmer music and listened to tunes on YouTube.

Benson and I played lots of rounds of Guess Who. He made himself a bed on the kitchen table while the girls practiced their writing. They completed their non-fiction writing practice.

In Science we studied our last body system, the Integumentary System, or our skin, the largest organ in the body.  We did a fun fingerprinting activity taking our finger prints and learning to study the whurl, loop, and other common patterns of fingerprints.

Benson bought this Gummy Bear kit for Katie for her birthday. She let us use it for our homeschool science lesson. We learned about pH with purple cabbage and pool testing strips. We tested base and acid solutions in our cabbage indicator turning it red or blue depending on the pH. That was really interesting.
