Summer Chores, Incentive Program

At the beginning of summer we always need a little structure when first coming out of a totally structured school year. Usually we make screen time the reward when the list is finished, but since I am trying to cut back the screen time to just Saturdays and Friday Family Movie Nights we made fake money that will be traded in for real money to use at our big trip at the end of summer in Hawaii.

The kids had fun earning Tiki Bucks. Some were more diligent than others in completing their lists, but it was a fun way to stay productive for the beginning of summer. The most effective tiki buck earning we had was when I said whoever had the most before we drove to Utah got to pick their seat in the car first. That was when the tiki earning got really competitive!
We hung this list on the fridge and the kids would mark off with a wipey marker each day as they completed their work. I didn't put Benson on the list, and Matt totally didn't participate, but the girls had fun.

Our money. The hula bonus, and hang ten were bonus bucks for consistancy- hula bonus for five days in a row of earning, and the hang ten for ten days in a row. We cut them up and laminated. I sure do love laminating things...
