By Matty's request we are continuing dinos for one more day. . .
Today we:
Typed up dino story, Matty edited (and found my mistakes).
Finished lapbook adding new facts and favorite dinosaurs (including iguanadon)
Read book about Iguanadon from library during naptime
Played yahtzee- adding multiple digits, Matty added in his head and added up totals at the end. Grouping numbers. (15+17= 15+15+2= think 10, 10, 5+5, and then 2 more.) Katie counted the dots on one die.
Made newspaper hats (Katie's idea) and sock puppets. Matty designed a Diplodocus. We put on a puppet show. Katie was great at talking the puppets. Matty didn't want to participate, ("it's not real.") but I told him he had too choose: puppeteer, audience, or light crew (flashlight spotlight on puppets).
We found these fun poems and games to sing/play from preschoolrainbow.org. Katie loves them and even Matty participated. Then we played dino tag. This afternoon we will do relative measurements of dinosaurs to Matty's height using tape measure and butcher paper.

Spread your arms, way out wide,
Fly like a Pteranodon, soar and glide.Bend to the floor, head down low,
Move like Stegosaurus, long ago.Reach up tall, try to be
As tall as Apatosaurus eating on a tree.Using your claws, grumble and growl
Just like Tyrannosaurus on the prowl.
I'm a Mean Old Dinosaur
(Tune: I'm a little Tea Pot)I'm a mean old Dinosaur
(Make a mean face, the kids make the cutest mean faces)
Big and Tall
(Gesture hands big and tall )
Here is my tail, here is my claw.
(Gesture hands behind your back for tail and make claw hands)
When I get all hungry
(rub your tummy)
I just growl
(have the kids exaggerate the grrroooowwwlll)
Look out kids I'm on the prowl.
(Here I tickle each one of the tummy and they all giggle)
